Behind the nickname Paquiqui is Manuel Sierra Moreno, who founded in 1952 the most famous canning factory in San Fernando, Cadiz. There he produced tasty canned tuna, mackerel and frigate mackerel, which were so popular that they were exported to Italy and France.
Over the years, the heirs of Manuel Sierra, Paquiqui, have continued with the original recipe of those legendary mackerel in oil from San Fernando, thus paying homage to their grandfather and calling the company Conservas del abuelo Paquiqui (Grandfather Paquiqui’s Canned Foods).
