Description
Manzanilla Wine Gutiérrez Colosía 750ml
Gutiérrez Colosía manzanilla wine is golden in colour. It has a pungent and delicate aroma, a dry, almond flavour and is light on the palate. It is aged in oak barrels for at least three years.
Manzanilla is obtained through biological ageing, and the proximity of the wineries to the sea gives it very special characteristics. It has an alcoholic content of 15º. The grape variety used is Palomino. It is an organic wine and should be served very cold.
Since 1838, the Gutiérrez Colosía winery has been located at the mouth of the Guadalete River, in the Bay of Cadiz. The dry Levante winds and the humid Poniente winds from the Atlantic regulate the humidity of the air, maintaining optimal conditions for wines, vinegar and brandies.
The stability and quality of Gutiérrez-Colosía wines are guaranteed by careful ageing in criaderas and soleras, following the best traditions of the region.
The wineries have a structure known locally as the “cathedral nave”, with tall buildings and numerous arches. These expose the wines to the influence of the special climate of the Jerez region.
In 1969, the Gutiérrez-Colosía family acquired the ruins of the palace of the Count of Cumbrehermosa, a cargador de Indias, which already housed a winery, and built two additional warehouses in its place. The Gutiérrez-Colosía winery is the only one with direct access to the Guadalete River, which provides the perfect humidity for the biological ageing of fine wines under the veil “in bloom”, which refers to the micro-organisms that develop on the surface of the wine.
